Marshal Elliott Seamans

Marshal Elliott Seamans enlisted on May 25, 1863 in the unassigned New York 14th Heavy Artillery. On October 10, 1863, Marshal was transferred to Co. C of the 1st New York Lincoln Cavalry. He was mustered out on July 20, 1865 at Camp Piatt, West Virginia. After the war, he continued to serve in the regular army on the Western Frontier. Marshal married in 1869 and had eight children. He died June 15, 1894 in Hudson, Lenowee, Michigan. Marshal is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson, Michigan.

Was wounded, June 5, 1864, during cavalry charge on retreating Confederates. Held at Libby Prison hospital, released August 22, 1864. Mustered out July 20, 1865, Camp Piatt, WV.

He enlisted on July 29,1863 at Elmira, NY at the age of 18. He enlisted in Company F, 1st Veteran Cavalry Regiment New York on October 10, 1863. He mustered out July 20, 1865 in Camp Piatt, WV. He was a Trumpeter. According to the Bureau of Pensions #479,391, he was entitled to a pension of $23 per month from May 11, 1915 and $30 per month from May 11, 1920.

Daniel was my great great uncle on my father's side. He was a 19 yr. old farmer from Cherry Creek, NY. He enlisted in the army on Aug. 17, 1864, Co.C, 112th NY Infantry. He joined Co. B, 112th NY Infantry Sept. 14, 1864 at Petersburg, VA & was killed near Chapin's Farm, VA on Sept. 29, 1864.
